My dear Mr Macarthur

Knowing how unwilling you were to enter into correspondence with me, I am sorry you should have thought it needful to write, particularly as I am fearful of giving any decided answer to your question. I asked you to limit me as to time, thinking that it might

possibly be a means of lessening the discomfort of suspense to you. I am to return home before the end of the week & you may rest assured that you will in some way hear of me or from me, as soon as I have come to a decision.
