It was right to come and Im glad I did it
but I was very happy amongst you all
and I feel very waif like sometimes.
However there is much comfort too in
my life and it is evidently the life
God sees to be best for me – one of
constant care and anxiety. Must
one would think drive one to feel one's
own utter helplessness at last –
And I desire to submit utterly –
thank God I am feeling better –

Decr 28th Bitter cold weather but dry
the snow lies deep every where! They say
there has not been such a winter for very
many years past – The Aurora B. [Borealis] was
so splendid in October that Vigant then
said it portended a very hard winter

I must say I do not dislike the frost
in the absence of wind as at present
Vigant bears it better than one could
have expected, but is much shut up
so are the Boys who have bad colds
but this one may expect with icicles
hanging on ones windows on the S. coast!!
I have heard nothing of Sir Edward
or Lady McArthur since I arrived

I must write & enquire about them
