My dear Bessie

We left London Monday 30th July
for Folkestone in the beginning of a storm
which made it quite dark.
Slept at Folkestone had deluge of
rain all evening & night then
crossed in lovely weather on Tuesday
so smooth that I went on deck &
saw Boulogne harbour from the Sea
for the first time

We reached Rheims that evening &
found Lady Bloomfield (widow of Ex
Ambassador) & Miss Jekyll also an
acquaintance there before us
We rested Wednesday went to the
Cathedral – Salle des Bois &c &c.
& came on here on Thursday on a
fine though cloudy day.
