53 BROMPTON CRESCENT.
S.W.

My dear Bessie Instead of writing
to you as I intended to do on Thursday
I have to go to bed with another chill
These attacks are very trying – but
I hope a few days in bed may now
save me from any real illness

Dr Chepwell wishes me to keep warm
And winter has now set in – and
except one very bad fog about
Christmas we have had fairly
clear weather Now we have frost &
snow which is more seasonable
And I hope it will check Influenza
which is rampant in some parts
of this Kingdom & pretty bad here .
but the Dr says this is not Influenza that I have.
I wanted to tell you I had seen

11 Jany I have your
affecte note of 6 Decr
so glad of Good
news of you all
& that I may look
forward to a March
or April. – start.
Dr C keeps me in bed
but I am not ill
this time no fever –
there is so much
Influenza & illness
around he is careful
I will now close
my letter dear
Bessie with fond love
