Permit me to solicit as your hands the appointments of Commissioner to take acknowledgement of Deeds, to the papers in Louisiana, to be used in the state of Tennessee.
For particular information favorable to to this application, I have the pleasure to refer to the accompanying recommendations; and, for a more general knowledge of my position, I take the liberty to refer to my circular.- a copy of which I inclose herewith.

The undersigned beg you to recommend the within application to your favorable consideration, being Satisfied from the high personal character of Mr Smith, from his business qualifii cations, that should he receive the appointment for which he asks, he will honorably faithfully perform it's duties. Sir,
The undersigned, (late of the house of Cushman & Co. New- York,) having established hihmself in this City as a GENERAL COMMISSION MERCHANT, will devote himself to the purchase and sale of Merchandise generally, especially Foreign and Domestic Dry Goods.
Consignments of or orders for either of the great Agricultural Staples of the region tributary to this City, will receive prompt attention.
Merchandise or Produce consigned for transhipment will be forwarded without un= necessary delay.
Vessels consigned, will have propt despatch.
Particular attention will be given to the Collection of Notes or Bills of Exchange. If necessary, and desired by the holders, a visit in person will be made to the drawers, when they reside within a reasonable distance of the City.
In referring to the goregoing, the subscriber respectfully submits, as his determination, to adhere to the principle of combining with the lowest remunerative charges_______the strictest attention to any orders on consignments with which he may be favored. He trusts that by limiting his operations to a class of correspondents whose necessities will not out-run their means, he shall make it obviously to the advantage of such to command his services.
