State of Tennessee

To his excellency Joseph McMinn

The undersigned respectfully begs leave to Represent, That Thomas Pack of Jackson County about July---1818 was arrested upon a charge of homicide, and had been closely impris= oned until this time, at the October term 1820 of the circuit court of Smith County Judgment of Manslaughter was passed upon said Pack, and executed by branding in thehand, the circuit Judge also sentenced him to imprisonment (illegible) (his?) said Pack is a very poor man, & neither he, or his family have any means of subsistance but by his labor, --We therefore pray your excellency, considering the length of time he has been imprisoned & his peculiar situation to pardon the balance of the imprisonment, and as in duty bound (illegible).
