The state of Alabama. Execution Department Tuscaloosa Alabama To His Excellency the Governor of the state of Tennessee

Whereas it appears by the accompanying Bill of indictment of the Grand Jury for the county of Marshall, that on the 28th day of March 1838 in the County aforesaid in the state of Alabama. Jesse Allen feloniously and wilfully murdered [illegible] W. Steele in violation of the laws of the state of Albama.

And whereas it appears further that the said Jesse Allen has fled from justice, and is now in the state of Tennessee

Now by Virtue of the powers and authority in me vested by the Constitution and laws of the state if Alabama; I do demand of your Excellency that the said Jesse Allen be delivered over to Daniel B. Turner whom I have appointed on the part of the state of Alabama to [receive?] and Convey the said Jesse Allen to the County of Marshall in the state of Alabama, and deliver him to the Sheriff

of Marshall County that he may answer the charge according to the Law of the State of Alabama.

In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great seal of the state to be affixed this 4th day of January 1839 and of the Independence of the United States the 63rd year
