To his Excellency James K. Polk

Governor of Tennessee

Dear Sir,

In transmitting you the enclosed Resolution that passed our Board of [illegible] allmost unanimously; I have the honors to remark that the [illegible] expected are to apply to you for the use of some of the [illegible] subject to yr. orders in the [illegible] in this place; to be returned on demand and in the mean time kept in good order by our Dutchmen.

I shall have the pleasure of calling on you this after noon, to receive an answer to this application, and shall ever remain yr. friend and obt. svt.
