Dear Sir
The (?) having
reccommended the raising of some additional
(?) force, and it being probable that (?)
with be many citizen appointments I would
ask of you the favor, of a letter which I may show
to the secetary of war, giving your opinion of may
conduct as an officer (?) I had the honor of
serving under your command. If you feel at
liberty to couple witht hat opinion a request
that an appointment in any additional (?)
may be conferred upon (?), and (crossed through) I shall feel deeply
obliged to you. I (?) desire to (?) the
Army and believe that such a letter from you will
be of great assistance to me, and if it should be
in your power to aid me through your (?)
deligation, without inconveience to yourself or
(?) to the claims or wishes of others, any
suchaid will be reviewed with many thanks
from your most obed servt
