Dear Bob,

I have given directions on the other page as full as I can. If your Father should be worse and would like to have me come out, do not hesitate to send for me -

I shall not want the Hemlock this year as I find the Catalpa which I intend to replace by it is not dead as I supposed -

I received a letter from Mr Wm Heaver of Cincinnatti a couple of days ago in which he inquires particularily for your Father's health expresses regret not to have seen you, and desires me to say to your Father that he is in his debt for an hour pleasantly & profitably passed in listening to his Address before the Ohio State Fair which it would please him to repay by sending as a present specimens of any of the fine Cinti Seedling Strawberries which you would like to have, and that he will take them up & label them himself & guarantee every kind true to name. He desires me to ask you to write & give him the list & direct him how to send them & he will forward them immediately His addrss is Wm Heaver Reading Road Nursery near Cincinnatti - The Best are "Longworths Philipe Hermaphrodite", McAvery's Tuperia or No 12 Pistellate, and Schnecke's Pistellate, & McAverys large Extra Red the last not as fine flavored

I think that the interruption of the fever by the use of a large dose of Quinine say 10 grs and Morphine gr 1/4 to 1/2' given an hour or an hour and a half, before the time in the evening when the fever appears to begin, or, if there is no fever, before the time when the pain begins to increase - To prevent the stomach being affected, the system should be kept sufficiently under the influence of Morphine to control the severe pain and mustard poultices applied on the [illegible] as often as there is pain in the stomach -

If or when there is not much fever, give the Solution of Phosphate of Ammonia again if the stomach will bear it which I think it will if it is largely diluted.

I send the Iodine in the form of an ointment which should be rubbed around the joints which are tender or stiff two or three times daily as soon as the severe heat & swelling is diminished - I think the Phosphate of Ammonia the best thing to prevent relapse as it carries out the effete matters, which produce the rheumatic inflammation, from the system through the Urine -
