Mr. R. Kennicott
Dear Sir
Your favor of Dec 23rd is before me, this I believe is the second or third letter I have recd from you since I saw you, in all of which you speak of the specimens probably collected here by me or others - Mr T. M. Carter, made some collections, and I think Cace & Horrell, also collected a few specimens before I left, which It was their purpose to send to you as soon as they should receive your order for the same - Write to T. M. Carter and tell him what disposition to make of any specimens that he, or Cace & Horrell may have collected for you - The reason why I have not answered your letters heretofore was that I did not know where to address you, in the present letter you have sent envelop with your address I therfore ans,, immediately - address me here after at Washington Washington County Texas where I now live
Yours Truly U C, Spencer
[page turned] I never made any collections for the reason that Carter and others seemed engaged in the matter and I thought would succeed well U. C. S
