The Grove Feb 17th 1858

My very dear brother -

Cora received your letter of Feb 10th yesterday; we were glad - as we always are - to hear from you.

What sort of a girl is "Miss Bttie"? Don't be too "sweet on her" untill you describe her to me and see if I like her from your description. I am delighted to hear that you don't "purr" to the ladies, hope you wont; you must be careful for you do it without knowing it.

Do you think the Washington ladies superior to any other ladies you ever saw?

Did you receive the music Charlie sent? Delia Boyden went away monday morning; Frank took her into Chicago; we miss her a great deal. Frank thinks she is more of "an angel" than ever.

We had a pleasant time at Uncle Wills on Sunday last.

The folk from The Folly were here yesterday: Uncle Hiram, Aunt Gene and the children. Ransom is talking about going to stay with Uncle Asa, to learn to be a dentist, I think it would be an excellent thing for him: for he never will never be any thing while he is at home.

Uncle Asa sent out for a load of trees yesterday: and Major and Lauranc are out getting them now. I am afraid they will freeze for it is snowing "like fun" and is quite cold.

Father is not very well this morning in consequence of taking a long cold ride, he went - monday evening - over to the North Branch beyond "Cadwells" to pay a medical visit and did not get home untill the next mornig -

Flint came home from The Folly yesterday; the "little image" is as full of mischeif as he can be - They pet him so much "up there" that when he gets home he feels as if he ought to be treated

with all possibl respect. Flint has heard Major read "Macbeath" and seen him "act" for the benefit of Bruno and himself, so when he was up at The Folly he "acted" for the men and boys -

It snows a little every day. I think the sleighing will last some time.

Enjoy your self all you can. We are all well except that Major and I have bad colds.

Take care of yourself, and think once in a while of your loving Sister Dalce
