1325 Spruce St. Phila Feb. 18th 1858

Dear Sir,

I am very sorry you gave yourself so much concern regarding the pins. & the cost thereof. My only desire was to know whether they had arrived.

With respect to the cost, if I understand you aright, they are desired for the use of the College. Very well, do not pay for them, until the College gives you the money. That is but fair; if however, they are for your own use, & not for the College, pray accept them, as from me.

I hope to come to Washington before long, & perhaps when Hayden returns. He has promised to spend a few days with me next week. I suspect the beetles had better be left until my arrival. Many thanks for your kindness in getting them picked out. It will save me a world of labor.

Sincerely yours John L. LeConte

Mr. R. Kennicott.
