The Grove West Northfield April 28th 1858

Dear Brother Bob.

Father and Mother have just got back from Aunt Eugenes where they went last evening. You have a new cousin. he was came into this world about the time the clock struck six this morning. Aunt Deal says that he has large black eyes and looks like George. Mother said that I men could go up and see him today Iif I wished but I prefered waiting a few days. - He is the seventh son and tenth child!

Beware! beware! how you fall desperately in love with young ladies; remember the girl with eyes like flying squirril's and dont have any more miMiss Larkin'ses: I should hope at any rate that she would only be a Miss Larkins: for you are only a "moy" yet as Frank wrote it

the other day: he wrote the m for man and then concluded that that would'nt do so finished it with oy for boy.

I can't tell you whether Charlie and "the Boyden" are really engaged because nobody ever told me that they were; but I hav'ent the slightest doubt but what they are. We hope that Delia will be here when you come home - then you can find out for yourself whether she is to be our future sister or not. Dealia is a dear good girl and I love her very much spite of her few peculiarity's: and I am sure that we need none of us object to her for a sister; if you only get us as good an one I think we ought to feel satisfied: but we can wait a few for the one that you will give us

The business goes on much smother and with less fretting and bustle than usual. I believe Major is a much better manager than my two big brothers. Alice is just writing to the bigest one.

[page turned] This is written very badly but please dont feel very much ashamed of small girl Cora although she is growing pretty tall
