I wrote you a couple of letters last Monday, in reference to that white crane. I want you distinctly to understand that I want that bird instanter, if not sooner, - even forthwith, I am waiting for it to complete [illegible]. for printer. and he has nothing to go on with, and is punching me awfully. Send it by telegraph.I will pay up to 15 dollars, and if a good specimen and really different from the Sand hill, might go 20.00. I am truly in earnest about the great urgency of having this bird at once.
I hardly know what to say in regard to N. W. Univ. only till we hear what Dr Evans writes.
If you have but limited funds to work on and [illegible] any how, I think you had

better go to Mississippi. It will pay much better than any where else. in materials [illegible] changes. I would give up the Minnesota trip at once. The Indians are troublesome and the thing will not pay unless you camp far off.
Your plans are tremendous, but not impracticable. Go ahead and get aid from legislatures. and State Ag. Soc. perhaps. When you see how much they give, you can tell what you must furnish Do as much studying as you can any how: it wont hurt you
When we get Dr. Evans letter, I will see that he gets a suitable reply. He will find that it makes much difference in results in what your relations to Naturalists are
Why have they not sent me that money for
