I send you in a box for Smithsonian Inst - the Uniones I promised you when I had the pleasure to see you in Washington - I have added some which I think will also be agrabl to you - I wish for your sake there were more

& better worth your [illegible]

You will also find the copy of "Synopsis" promised with some other papers -

If you have no objection I would like to mention to the Academy Nat Sc. what specimens you brought from the "Red River of the South" so that we may know the geographic

distribution & compare them with the geographic distribution of the molluscs of our fresh waters - Of course I should mention that all the species were brought from there by you - Please say at about what lat - you got most of them? - I believe you are aware that there were no new species from Red R. of the N -
