My Dear Sir.
Since Your departure little of interest has occurred with us - Mrs Pease has made a visit to Warren & I have been suffering greatly with a Carbuncle on my neck -
The missing numbers of the Proceedings of the Academy all came to hand to day from the Efficient East -
Rockport [illegible] with there a host of back letters & papers. -
Yesterday I completed the Winter arrangements for my Bees & tomorrow shall finish bringing in Green House plants. & on Wednesday work shall commence - My lectures at the College -
I have not an item of news to write - At present I am

reading "Thompson's Africa" - What a pity those Missionaries do not fit themselves by a little study of the practical part of Natural History. -
I am hesitating how to shape my brief course on Earth - Whether to intently withdraw from all active scenes and engagements or to enter on some special department of Natl Science. -
Inclosed is a letter to Mr & Mrs Wade - Fail not to make their acquiantance early this Winter - Lucy (Mrs. Boardman) My other niece has Just returned from an European tour & is daily expected here. -
