My Dear Sir,
Our school is never in full operation - I am kept busy by lecturing twice each day for the present.
I recd a note from Wm Sharswood of Philadelphia - saying that he is engaged in writing a Bibliography of Amer. Entymology. I requesting information - Do you know any thing of any such person being engaged in that pursuit? -
Mr Wade will be in Washington with Mrs Wade & family on the 1d of DEC. Soon after which I hope to receive from him - Bairds work on Birds & Quadrupeds -
In our class are several graduates from Williamstown

College who are ornithologist, taxaderm &c - One of them has been on a tain to Florida. -
In the harbor of New Buffalo I saw some fine & large specimens of Symren Jugularis - Do you meet with it in Illinois? Did you obtain the Symrea Megadon during your Northern trips? - It is a native in the head waters of the Mahoning river in Stark Co Ohio -
I have just recd in fine order a beautiful Echino. Cactus from Dr Newberry - It is intrinsiccally valuable - but still more prized as it is an evidence that all of my old friends have not forgotten me. A similar evidence I have also just recd in the shape of a large padckage of Books & phamphlets -

from F. B. Hough a former student now in the archeives at Albany. I am preparing for a large Bee operation - next season. If it meets my anticipations it will result in establishing a Chain of Apiaries at several points, between Laporte Ind & Cleveland.
