Sunday Morning The Grove Nov 28th 1858

Dear Brother mine -

In your last letter you wished me to tell you the gossip, why Bob! Me gossip! I am surprised indeed; after all the good advice I have had on that subject from my learned brother.

How did you spend Thanksgiving? We did just about the same things on that day that we do ordinarly.

Frank was here, and Aunts Anis and Dele came over for dinner.

The next day fridy we all went up to The Foly. We were envitnt the day before but Major could not let us have the hoses.

They have a teacher at the Folly - not a very young man, we did not see enough of him to judge whether we should like him or not.

We have not heard from Mr. McCaury

Do not [too faint to read] not letters to a [illegible] in some time I fear the poor fellow is ill. Alice

Short letters an 0[degrees] to need "finishing" - So says Delia - I have observed that they are liable to because like broken sticks - or young trees - with thin trunks broken in the middle even afterwards - crooked - ill shaped - deformed my only - better died than lived. better not finished than completed. - odd workmen working ignorantly of each others pears - notices - ideas make odd work - see them splice a stick of trubs and has left a Secerf up the other makes his a fit downwards - The girls will let us have time to finish out one idea till I am forced to jot down another so if you can fill up the joints & complete the species you will do more -
