Hanson Dec. 20th 1858
My Dear Friend Kennicott
Your kind favor of Nov 28th was duly recd. In that you mentioned sending a couple of catalogues of birds and mammals, I have never received them; try again.
As to sending rabbits and porcupines I think I shall be able to send several to Andrews during the winter. Shrews: weasels, martin, and otter I have engaged of some trappers about fifty miles north of here. They will be down in Feby.
I have not the Report of the Smithsonian for 1856. Should like the instruction in it very much. I have purchased a black bear for the Smithsonian and shall kill it. - prepare the skin & find it within two days in two weeks.
How can I manage to secure the 8th, 9th & 10th vols. of Pacific R.R. Reports.
I had the good fortune last week to secure a white owl. Also a cat owl the week before
I have shot two large black wood cocks which I have stuffed and wired. I am in hopes of obtaining some wolf skins before the close of

winter.
Whatever catalogues, pamphlets &c &c containing instructions you can send without troubling you too much would be very thankfully received.
Mrs. Gordon returns to you her kindest remembrance.
Trusting that I may soon hear from you again.
I remain
Truly Yours W. A. Gordon
