Smithsonion Institution Washington D.C. Jan 8th/59

Hon N. B. Judd

Dear sir; Presuming from what you said to my father on the subject, that you approve of the plan for a zoological survey of our state, and that you will interest yourself in getting the necessary action bill hassed by the legislature, I take the liberty of enclosing some memoranda for the preperation of such a bill. - A copy of this I also send to Messrs S. L. Bryon, John. H. Bryant and, Jas. M. Davis.

I enclose memoranda of the points I believe most important to embody in a bill to be brot before[?] legislat providing for the sumary by

The former memorandum of these points which I sent you, contains a clause respecting the time of presenting completing the report which had better be left out.

What I wish to do is to complete the survey and collection within the two years and then if the report is not ordered to be published with figures I will present it finish it at once; but should it be thought proper by the next legislation to publish b under figures to illustrate it (and these would be need not be very expensive) I would have[?] to make important alterations [words crossed out] in the text - which if need be I would do without further hay[?] however.
