The Grove Jan 27th 1859. I have not become used to that 9 yet
Dear My Brother
No letters from you by to days mail; you can't think how much we miss your letters; do try and write a little oftener.
I had a letter from Charlie to day he is woorking hard and says that he is accomplishing a good deal. He intends to make the most of Laurance while he stays.
Major has my pen and I am under the painful necessity of writing with a steel one. So don't wonder at my unusually stiff looking chirography.
Enclosed you will find a letter from Mr Lapham received to day - I have looked in vain for a circular to send him; you will have to attend to it.
Father has not yet got home we are beginning to feel quite anxious about him, for the last time he wrote he

was quite ill; more however from want of rest than any thing else I fancy.
Ca and I are studying Algibra under Mr Chases instruction, we like it very well.
We have not heard from Maj since he was home Monday.
Yesterday Uncle Alonzo and his family were here - I sewed fine Aunt Dele on the machine all the afternoon.
It is stormy and dis agreeable out to day - half snow and half rain
I do hope Father will come home soon -
I am glad to say that Mr Chase is here now; if it were not for him we should be extremely lonely now that Maj. and Father are both gone.
I hope to go to Chicago soon, I have been at home all winter.
With much love Dalce -
