[printed] No. Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D. C. [handwritten] Feb 2nd [printed] 18 [handwritten] 59.
Hon D McIntyre
Dear sir; The emaciated condition of my purse compels me to ask you again for money. I would be very much obliged by your sending the amount of the enclosed bill; - or if, for any reason, it would not be conveniant to send the whole now, about half of the sum would be sufficient for my immediate necessities.
[paragraph xed out] I am unable as yet to report to Prof Trowbridge, for your information, the actual progress in my work for the reason that until a certain amount of investigation is completed in the Smithsonian Museum I cannot make ant catalogues of the Trowbridge

Trowbridge collection.
I trust the cases will be ready to receive the specimens, which should not be placed in them until they are quite dry.
I wish, if that will be satisfactory, to have the labels for the collection printed here.
Respectfully yours R. Kennicott
