Jan. '59 Sunday morning.

Dear Bob. RK. Wash

We got the color yesterday - morning, and in the afternoon I fixed it. Instead of "setting" I trimmed it with narrow "tape trimming". It is quite pretty. Alice has been making some very handsome new colors. and without any expense too. They are as [illegible] elegant as you usually see ladies wear. She "transfered them. The old work embroiderey was part given us by Mrs Blaney part by Aunt Betsey" and Mrs Cutting all of whom are able to buy new ones. If we have rich handsome work we can "transfer" colors to look just as well if not better than new ones, for we cam use better taste in arranging the work than the poor nuns that made them.

We have got a fire in the parlor today. Sunday is about the only day that we set there, because we keep the sewing machine in the dining room. But I asshure you it is very pleasant when we do set there. We always have the fire just ready to light without any trouble. When there is but a few of us and cold weather we have the doors shut between the two rooms, and it is as cozy and nice as possable, and when we have a large company the stove warms both rooms sufficiently.

Frank and Major came out yesterday Frank brought out some beautiful greenhouse flowers.
