shells to stand in there. You send some hints on the subject if you think well

I am extremely busy with the Geolog. Collection. By the way, I have lately been much disconcerted by a proposi= =tion from the Governor to appoint me a state geologist if I can make an arrangement with the University to be absent a couple of months of term time A year ago I should have liked it. Now my mind is on something else. What shall I do? Perhaps I ought to back said beforehand that the legislature lately made provision for resuming the survey. I have no doubt that in the end it will embrace the entire Nat. Hist. of the state - Especially the fishes Do let me know what you think about this matter - and what Prof Baird thinks. The Faculty & Regents are very anxious to have me take the appointment

Very truly yours A. Winchell
