Dear Bob - Yours of 22' Feb, to Cora, came yesterday - Sorry you have to work on the snakes now - When will you get out of the alcohol and the cellar? Not wholesome there, in hot weather - try & get out of it - About your Bill all I Record is what the papers stated and Chase wrote - for it appears he was there, after all - Some one, (who I have yet to learn) moved to "lay on the table" - and as such a motion is "not debat=able" - I presume it was carried by a strict "party vote" - the "democrats" having agreed, in caucus, to table all "appropriation" bills - except their own. Wilbur's Bill was like to [illegible] the same fate - a motion was made to table it, "till 4' July" - but the the motion was withdrawn for "Explanations", and Bill passed the House, for a simple charter, with the "appropriation" stricken out -

I dont think Wilbur's charter pass=ed the Senate, at all - and it is of no use, if it did.

After the House Committee had agreed (in my presence) unanimously to Report 8,000 copies of Ag'l Transac=tions - and the Senate Committee 10,000 - they ended by voting 3,000 - with some [illegible] re=trictions, I believe, as to size and cost - But they all know they would "catch hell" if they did not print, at all. - So with all the appropriations, except for their own officers, - and those were illegally passed - without a quorum.

No - I have neither the 8th nor the 9th vol. of Pacific Railroad Survey - none since Vol 7 (VII.) - and there is only one vol. of Mexican Boundery here - Yours I suspect. I dont think I can get one - I wrote to Trumbull, last week, asking documents, - but not specifying volumes.
