before I got here, for Oregon to be gone 3 year and that is what makes Prof. so blue - just now. However he will be all right in a day or two and then I, will let you know what is up. I wish you would tell Prof. Baird that I will write to him as soon as I have had a good talk with Agassiz - Remember me kindly to our lady friends across to the way, not forgeting "his Northern sapiens" - as well as to the Club - and now old Heterodon you must write to a fellow once in a while and let us know what is going on in Washington. and then will just let you know that I am still in land of the kicking.
