Home, Monday, March 14'

Dear Bob,

[circled] 147

I had to write ten pages for P. F. yesterday, being unable to do it Saturday - consequently worked all day, with=out dinner, and feel any thing but bright to-day -

Chase came back Saturday, and Frank with him - both re=turn to town this morning - Chase has forgotten who [illegible] the tabling of your Bill, but says the friends of it told him that there was no chance for it whatever - Even the State Ag'l Society, it seems, did not get a printing Bill, to stick. Chase says the State officers refuse to act, under it -

Rubius and other birds here, in abundance - warm & wet - Mother had one of her bad faint=ing spells, yesterday - a very se=rious one - but she appears all right to-day - We expect [word crossed out] Chase's two boys, next week

[page turned] Glad to hear there is a chance of your going to the far North West, Respects to Ulkes, and all the good fellows

About $300. to $400. in orders, on hand - mostly for things at very low prices.

I see that Wilkes, "General Agent" &c. is out with a long boastful article, in the Illinois Teacher trying to make out that the "Nat. His. Society" (i.e. Mr Wilkes) has done great things, and expects to do more than we was done before - He speaks well of you, as helping the Society. Let him flatter and crow, - it will do some good - and cant do much hurt.
