Dear Mother -
I am feeling very happy this evening, He has done no work to day And have got entirly over my home-sickness, - that is if I have had any?. - This evening Bob and my seflf took tea at Prof' Bairds, and had expected to go to Church with Miss Lucy Baird, - But they were afraid that it wold [word crossed out] rain, and so she did not go.- Much to my joy, - I should like to tell you what I think of the Bairds, that is the Ladies, the Prof' I like very much But if I should tell you what I think of Mrs & Miss B,. Bob would not let me send the letter. I objected to his first on this subject because his expressions[?] were to extravagant and would give a wrong impression. - Bruno only effects pretty faces - vide below!
There is a Miss Abbot staying at the Chitterdens' whome we went out riding with last friday. I think she is the only really really nice Girl that I have seene since I left The Grove, she is very pretty and modest, She looks very much like Miss. Coombs, the actress, who we saw in Chicago last winter, - But woe! She is only going to stay in town two days more, - It is very warm here, now, just like summer,
Mr Stimpson is still sick, But he

Cub, Bruno,
The Cub is magnificently lazy. He will write more readily ere long I hope. - He dont seem to have so much imagination and enthusiasm as Poddy - the better for him perhaps.
