Milwaukee, 19. April, 1863.

Dear Sir,

I thank you for the your pains you took to get these 2 volumes for the Natural Society. We have already received the 8. & 9. vol. from Mr. Doolittle and have purchased the whole set, consisting of 11 vol., How much they will cost, I wont say yet, for we have not yet received the invoice.

In reference to your sending a collection of shells etc. I spoke to several members of the Board; and we concluded that the best way of regulating this matter would be the following. You send us the package and we pay the expenses here in the Express - office; you may draw upon the Express - Company for your charges for your trouble, time and expenses; and we pay for them here. We think this the easiest way. - We shall be very much obliged to you, if we can get reports and specimens from the Smithsonian Institution.

Dr. Hoy was here lately, but had no time to stay long; but he said he would come and label those which were not labeled. As soon as this is done [sure?] shall send you a list of the birds in our museum.

Respectfully yours P. Englemann
