My Dear Sir

When I had the pleasure of last seeing you in Ottawa, I informed you I intended to put out an aditional orchard this spring and you will recollect I received a promise you would Aid[underlined] me in making out my List of Trees = Apples & Pears

Now Dr come right up to the work and redeem your pomological pledge

I have Downing and Barry's work by me but as climate and soil produce great changes, I am not willing to trust them, with -out first calling you out

I have lost all my Pear Trees by the blight I had some eight inches in diameter. have you any blight proff? I am determined to put our moore Pear Trees and fight the battle over

I am Very Truly your Friend
