Messrs. John A[l?] Charles Kennicott West Northfield Cook Co. Ills. Gents. I am in receipt of your favor of the 24~. ult. I cannot afford to purchase the trees in bud, that is I cannot afford to take the time. But I will now engage 100 [illegible] for 185[illegible] if my life is spared me till then. We purchase here trees one year old from firm 8. to 12d. Now cant you procure for me at [illegible] near these prices
10[cents] Crawfords [late?] Melocoton If so please send them directed to me at E. J. Huntington Hartford Con. by rail road or express, safely packed [justify?] me by mail & I will send the money. I am[strikethrough] want them one year from the bud. [illegible] Burly [illegible] Chicago know me -- I will cheerfully compensate you for any trouble. Stimulating [illegible] here much to do, I have no doubt with[strikethrough] in inducing the yellows; by avoiding which [illegible] healthy stock, I hope in some measure, at least to mitigate the present intolerable evil of diseased trees.
