Dr Grant had disposed of nearly all the ornamental varieties of willow or would have sent more - I would advise you to propagate as much of the "Beveridge" & [purpusea?] Willow as you can. it[strikethrough] They will some day be in demand for hedges on the Prairies - -
I have put in a seedling Mulberry of my growing, it is much the finest of any American Mulberry I have seen & continues in [eating?] two or three months - please give it a fair trial -
The frost is scarcely out & is still cold & backward, have not been able to do much in the earth yet - these are the first plants we have taken up - - sent by Express to day = in haste
Respectfully Chas. Downing
