Cleveland 19- Apl 1855-

J.A. & Chas Kennicott West Northfield Cook Co. Ill. Gentlemen friends -

Yours of 17- just recd & I am myself as much surprised at its contents as you could have been to receive the trees in bad order. The same man packed, that has done such work three years for me. & he claims he packed them well. but I beleive you & gave him decided H-L. I do not intend any one shall have cause to blow up about packing. I will send you some more in a few days. & will write you when. The stripping of the straw - was not our fault - that was fault of Express - as the trees left here in good order. In far as straw and all appearances - for I delivred to Express myself -

We will try & follow copy & tomorrow send you another hundred of dwarf & standard Pears. When I filled your order - I read to fill mostly[underlined] of sorts on list & on looking at it, find I did so. Sixty of those sent being on your list. This last lot you can have [jint?] so much time[underlined] on as you want - It being my own doing.

Yours Truly - but d-d tired.

Elliott
