Bunker Hill Macoupin Co Ill. Feb 4/56

Messers J.A. & Chas. Kennicott

Gentlemen In due corse of mail I recd yours of Oct 20th. I obtained my young trees from J. G. Little and M.L. Dunlap.

A number of persons in this nabourhood have spoken to me for Apple and Peach trees to set out in the spring You state that you can let me have "Peaches 1 year old at $75. per 1000. and Apples $75. for 2 & 3 year old and $100. for 4 & 5 year old, large enough & very stocky" Do these words "large enough and very stocky" apply to the 2 & 3 year old trees or only to the 4 & 5 year [old]?

I think I can engage 2 or 3 thousand trees, the kinds of apples most saleable in this place are, E. Harvest, Bough, Red June, Rambo, Fall Pippin, Y. Bellflower, Baldwin, Rawls [Yeast?], &c, and I will want more of these than of other kinds. Can you so furnish them?

If I should want a part of the above on time say 2 or 3 months time, can I have it? I can give the best of security and refer (as I am a stranger to you) to Hon. Jno. M. Palmer Carlinville A. McKim Dubois Clk. Circute Court, Macoupin Co. Y.L. Waples Merchant Alton Ill. P.C. Huggins or any other in Bunker Hill I cannot make sales of grain early enough to pay in advance without making a sacrafice. I may be able to raise it from other sorces. Please answer the above that I may know what to depend upon. Yours Jacob [V?]. Hopper
