Quasqueton, Buchanan Co, Iowa Feby 7. 1857

Messrs Kennicott

Gent, I want to fill two acres of Ground with fruit trees this spring - about half dwarf Pear & apple & half Standard Apple trees. I would like to buy the trees of you, if you have suitable kinds. I am not a farmer, & this business is new to me - I wish therefore some advice (as you advertise to give special information) The reputation of Dr K, & his [connection?] with the Prairie Farmer is sufficient guarantee for the trees sold at the Grove Nursery.

My idea is to put the trees pretty

I think I should want about half Dwarf - Pear & apple -

Please send me a catalogue also -

Respectfully yours L. V. Thompson
