Carroltton, Ill. March 6th 1857 Mesrs J.A. & C. Kennicott Gentlemen, Having noticed your advertisement in the Prairie Farmer of Ever green trees. I take the liberty to write and ask some infomration about them as I think of ordering some if your answer is favorable I wouldlike your opinion whether trees of the size of your's ( 4 to 5 feet high) could be safely planted here after having been out of the ground as long as they wouold necessarily be in thei transit- Calinville is the nearest depor on the C& H L. RR is 30 miles distant - & the trees would probably be there several days before I could ? of it & get them home. - ALso owhether you have the Balsam Fir & Norway Spruce & White Pine & sell them at the same price as the Austrain & Scotch Pine- If I get as many as 25 I would like a variety - Also what is the proper season to transplant them- I think it likely I can send you several orders- I would like also for you to send me one of your catalogues if convenient. Yours respectfully A.C. Hinton
