Alton May 16 th 18?7 Mess Kennicott & Sons

Gents I have this day received the evergreens & Currants and am sorry they have been on the way so long. I am afraid they will not live as the roots quite dry and seemed to have a dry mold on them the currants look well. I have followed your directions and hopethey will grow. I must say I never saw finer trees. They are perfect beauties and would not begrudge five times the cost of them if they will live, as soon as I could get word to Mr Fitch. I did so about the trees but they have been careless in Chicago, had the shipped them anyway, even as common freight I would received them a week ago. We are very much obliged for the bulbs and would like to know what they are. Enclosed you will find a lot of our Cider Mill as they are improved they will grate the apple and not destroy the seed our price is forty five dollars. If you should

add - newspaper clipping SUCKER CIDER MILL!! THE ILLINOIS FRUIT GROWER'S MACHINE!

THE BEST CHEAPEST MOST SIMPLE CIDER MILL

picture of mill

THIS SIMPLE AND DURABLE CIDER MILL is now being manufactured in large numbers, at the ALTON AGRICULTURAL WORKS, by Messrs J.D. Bruner & Co., the proprietors. It costs much less, and will do more work, and better work. than any hand mill invented. The apple is reduced to Pomace by a series of revolving saw teeth, fixed on a cylinder, and is literally scraped rather than crushed, as in Hiekol's mill. It is so simple that any farmer's boy can work it, and any carpenter and blacksmith can repair it. We cannot fill orders to this machine with certainty, after the first day of July next, having already sold a considerable number, for summer delivery. Fruit raisers will do well to iorder at once. For three years past, it was impossible for those to procure Mills, who waited until the apple season was fuly at hand. This mill may be seen at Messrs, Topping and Bro., in Alton and at our Establishment. We fully guaranty it to WORK WELL, OR NO SALE. Call and see it. J.D. Bruner & CO. Alton, Ap' 16, 1855- 6m
