Dear Sirs Thanks for your interesting letter. I will give you my ideas as to flowers wanted , and request you ?? your own description in sending me to the valueof $25. or $30. I know a good flower and while in Scotland my native country as an amateur had a very choice col lection of "finest flowers" and ?? house & stool plants. but gave little attention to perennial border plants. I have a small garden in front of my house and wish to have a small collection of perfectly hardy showy good things. I have at present abundanceof good annuals but few perennials except for phloxes & peonies of which I have a good variety and of climbers have only the trumpet creeper. Roses. For theses should expend $10 to $12 . Let me have a few of the very best and make up quantity thrice with good old things. Have you Mrs Rivers? Or Devunesis? hardy enough for this climate if laid down in winter covered with earth & G? Does Harrisonii do well in America? Madame Jaffey? is fine, But I will not ?pallisel large By all means have one or two Moss Roses. Good and 2 or 3 of the best heavy climbers to train up the pillars of my verandah? Several good old

I cant afford to buy a sufficient collection of but any other really good bulbs will be desirable including the pretty pruple crocus. I once grew a double row of crocus on each side of a walk & 100 yards in length & clusters of them & snow drops every where. I raised some thousands from seed a ? of time and patience. Shrubs a few if really good hardy evergreens say norway spruce 6 small places Hemlock 3 an arbor vitae 3 or 6 and your choice ? keepers but I think these can only make finre specimen plants if you should when small. Give me well formed plants Have you the Elderberry of which wine is made? I merely wish to know which this I believe I do, but am not sure Dont send eitherof Rites makes Isabella has ripened well. 10 days since. Calanter not yet ready and we been & had indications of ? like Decinna; Rebecca and any other early & good table grape; better than pulpy Isabella. If you can get these for me ( should you not have them) I will be glad. If you please write me as I can get them from anotehr correspondent Hollyhocks & pansies I would like a very choice small selection of but you dont seem to have these and I am I am very fastidious. I have a ? belated pansies perfect in shape texture and colors. 4 inches in diameter a seedling of my own & I lost it through dampness -beforescratched out- without being able to save one. I took too good care of it I believe I have never seen a good pansy in America. Let me know the selection you make and the price at any time and I'll remit the money.
