Belle & Nelly

As I came home from school last night I stopped at Aunt Avis' house (which was on the way) and was there told that I "had better hurry home for there was some -thing there that would make me glad" & oh did it not make me glad when I found that it was a letter from Charlie. Yes a letter from dear Charlie. & such a letter so naural, so much[underlined] like him - it made my heart thrill with pleasure to read it. In it he spoke kindly of you, saying that he enjoy-ed his visit with you very much, & that he thought you dear good girls, You cant tell how much happier we all[underlined] feel now & poor Ma especialy, She already begins to talk ofthe time of his coming back, as a time when we [illegible] enjoy ourselves as we used to. though before this She never could bear to speak about him in any way, So that children got to be very cautious how they alluded to him in anyway to make her feel bad, but now they are all saying "how long will[underlined] it be before Charlie comes home". In his letter he also requested us to send his love to you. I hope it will soon be so that you can write to him.

Bob started for Cleveland Monday, I hope that he will enjoy himself while there. I spent all of last week in Chicago, while I was there Uncle Asa got a lette from Belle, which I read & so found that you were well, but not why you did not write me. I got a letter from Willie about two weeks ago. Uncle Carter talks some of coming here. He got a letter from Uncle Asa today which us news that Laura was quite sick. Aunt Delia started for Chicago imediately. I hope that it will prove nothing dangerous[strikethrough] very serious.

Why dont Edward & George answer my letter.

You must excuse me for this short letter & write soon a good nice letter to

Amasa
