April 10th 1887. This is the first Easter my precious
darling husband has spent in Heaven. God
grant he does not regret leaving this world &
is longing for his wife to join him there. I miss
him each day more & more, & love him more
& more. It has [excited] & injured me to write
in this Book, so I had to stop. I think him
the best, wisest, greatest man ever lived. Oh
that I would see him once again. just to
tell him I miss him, & how I love him.
Fanny tries to make up his loss to me, & is [illegible]-
[illegible] I could not live without her. [Ethel] is
as kind as possible, & my 3 sons also good to
me, & Susan is very kind & affectionate. I
[illegible] the great trial she has to bear would
be removed. My precious husband I think
of you every moment. & miss you. Oh that
I made you happier than I did. I [fear] I [should]
have loved you ten thousand times more than
I did. I realize more than I did, how
far superior you were to me, & how good in
you to love me as you did. I long to see you
I am doing all I can to honor your memory,
& prove my love & devotion to you. God bless
you my darling husband.
