justice to your Memory. I have read your writings
for more than a year. It has been my only
comfort. Without them I would have been solitary
indeed, perhaps died or lost my senses. Reading
them, I have kept up a communication with
you. Your portrait hangs above my bed, & I see
it the last thing at night & the first in the morning,
but it does not look familiar, for the
eyes look away from your eye. The other portrait
eyes look with love into my eyes.
My darling husband I miss you more than I
can express. I love you more & more. I know you
were one of the noblest beings ever lived.

A grandson was born Nov 19th 1886. named after you,
it is little [Benj] [F] Perry & is grandmother's
darling. I pray he may be in every respect like
you.

A Book will soon be published containing your writing.
I know it will please neither secessionists or
Republicans, & not all the Democrats, but it has your
noble feelings in it, & your noble principles & will
please the few noble people in this country.

Willie returns to Washington tomorrow. God grant
he may continue as pure as he was when he went
there & as pure as you would have been if you
had been a member of Congress. God bless all our
children & my darling husband, I write us
[illegible]& [illegible] us all [illegible] each other. My precious
darling husband.
