Windsor, Th 16th, 1837 -

Wed 15th I may first recount. This was a fine
day well calculated to dispel sickness. I read
a while before noon Burr's Trial - then went to
the Court house and heard law relating to citizenship
and residence slightly. This question was adjourned
over to this day for argument, that the counsel
in the mean time might look up authorities.
Towards night there was a Balloon asscention
from Wilkinson's garden. The evening was clear
and calm and altogether favorable. There were
many spectators - and the asscention was fine. Up
the white inflated paper ascended towards
heaven - then veered north moving in a
beautiful ascent. All were delighted. As the
gas exhausted it gradually though slowly desc-
ended and came to earth about a mile
from town and twas found - I might offer
something on politeness and sensitive and refi-
ned feeling; but I am in no spirit for composition
and I am disposed to go to Court at this moment.
Came to my room about nine OC. PM and
read till 11 O.C. - went to bed.

Rose this morning and walked out after bre-
akfast and felt much strenthened in hea-
lth. This is parade day in this town
by the Bertie F Troopers. People are
coming in town

Monday 20th Nov. Health not good which
prevents me from being better reconated
to residence in this town. Last week was Court
for this County and I know not when I enjoyed
myself less. As the weakest part of human nature
abounds here so the nabob is the most res-
pectable character in town and perhaps there
be not a few that affect the nabob. Every
man to his own business. Weather warm
I dont like hereabout - . . .
