Retrospection.

To sing the song that lulls to sleep,
So warble the melody that makes to weep,
Is not the muse's vusiness now
But on the past some thought to allow.

These note's intentions to renovate the mud
To present ideas of a varied kind;
To emit sparks of mental fire
To keep up humor, to depress ire.
=
When a strange friend salutes, all hail welcome.
Satisfaction reigns and the company grow [blister...?]
Felicity, matter, and sympathy hearts entertwine
Far more affecting than milk and wine
=
Thus my Nights Thoughts and lovely reveries,
When the day is gone afford my mind ease
I first did salute a farewell now I choose
Do a parting tribute I cannot refuse.

Over the seasons both dreary both and pleasing.
My soul did dwell though I most freezing.
April, May and June offered the world's delights
To the ears musical sounds, to the eyes pretty sig[hts?]

Enraptured with the scenes while riding by
Till roused from the commune by a start of Paul P[illegible]
Thus luscious Summer and mellow Autumn w[illegible]
Leaving me in Winter retrospective prospective and [illegible]
From my notes I may not depart
