march 29 - 1903

Five years have passed since I wrote the
last page in this diary I picked up up
tonight and laughed as I glanced through
its pages and thought of these dats of
five years ago.

I always had an inclination to keep a
diary and so this one was followed by
two more with a year's intermission
between each. This one states pretty ac-
curately what I did each day but that
is all in the last one I kept which
was for the year 1901 I attempted rather
to give my inpressions of people and
things than a [?] statement of when
I got and went to bed.

Reading these pages recalls very vividly
to my mind the different friends I
have had and the different events
that I have been through.

The friends that have most prom-
inently figured in my life are as
near as I can remember, taking them
in order -

Harry Alderman - Wilmington - Clever
Frank Shephead - "[Wilmington] - contemptible
