Dear Sir

I received your favour
of in relation to making a Levee on
the land in Warren County & intended
to have the Levee made, but the decision
of the Supreme Court against the Commercial
Bank about the time your Letter was recd
prevented my doing so, and I feel it
my duty to inform you, as you are no
doubt expecting me to attend to it -

The Assets of the Commercial Bank
have been all surrendered to William
Robertson Esqr the Trustee appointed by
the Court & perhaps some arrangement
may be made to make the Levee on the
property which is held in my name, but
as I cannot carry it on at once as you
expected I feel it a duty as stated above
to inform you, that you may not be
disappointed
