Magnolia July 24 1846

Dear sir this will inform you that
I am well and the negroes also their
has bin no rain this week except one
light shower I have a fine time for
saveing fodder I comencd to pulling last
tuesday morning I have only 6 double stacks
up to night and about 15 pulled but
tomorrow night I shall have up 14 stacks
I have pulled the uper river field and
I am now in the stable field the river
field will not make a half crop of corn
the stable field is better I have 15 plows
runing all the time in my cotton
for fear of the [tryvines?] for they
are thick all over the place and growing
fast my mules lacks verry well my
cotton is verry good in part and some
not so good I have some as high as my
horses back and well formed the young
cotton is half thigh high and blooming fair
I think I shall make a tolerable crop yet
but I have no ideah how much
as cotton makes so slow I dont think
I shall get a picking until about
the middle of august I have nothing
more the reason I am so particular
