Dr Col.
I will not be able to leave here before tuesday or wednesday next.
Yesterday I learned that the Carneal place, near Greenville, in Washington Co, was for sale, & Wm Hunt, whom you know very well, is the agent. I wrote to him immediately for his terms, & if they are what I hear they were sometime since, I would not hesitate to buy. Mr Carneal, I am told, offered it at $56 000, about $10.000 in cash & the rest on time, The place contains over a thousand acres, 55 likely negroes & stock, [?] in abundance & all in the very highest order I requested Hunt to let me know at Natchez.
Nothing new.
Yrs truly Sam S. Boyd
I paid the "Mississippian" to day & will hand you the receipt S. S. B.
