Yours of the first instant
came duly to hand, but I being
on the circuit, did not see
it until my return.

I see by the 2 [ordinance?] of the
Trustees, that it is the duty of
the principal Escheater, to ap-
point an Escheater for each
county & in the following orde-
nances their duties are pointed
out, now what I wish to know
is, whether I as attorney of the
University am expected to perform
the duties of county Escheater. If
I am, then I decline the appoint
ment, for the person, that I believe,
there are other persons, taht would
be able, to render much more
efficient servive to the University
