The first of March, in eighteen hundred eight
He ventured on the matrimonial state
Or, still more plain, he then, tho' late in life
Married a young & very handsome wife
And now to him, whom these initials claim
Some children live to bear their father's name
But one — is not; — his mother went before
Return from whence, we can expect no more:
Each much deplor'd,- yet lively hope they gave,
Virtue's reward is had beyond the grave
Alas! he's here in eighteen-forty-six
Reflecting on his weary mortal fix
Doom'd wt yr world & worldly men to mix
